Additional case studies detailed in Landcom’s WSUD Book 3 Case Studies demonstrate the application of WSUD in a range of developments.

Orange City Council

The first large scale, indirect-to-potable stormwater harvesting project in New South Wales, The Blackmans Swamp Creek Stormwater Harvesting Scheme commenced in 2008 and has since been so successful that it has been extended (commencing 2010) to Ploughmans’ Creek.

Kingston Council (Victoria) - Road Design Retrofits

Similarly, Kingston City Council (Victoria) developed a series of Water Sensitive Road Design Case Studies, which provide a brief pictorial overview of the type of structural measures that can be retrofitted to roadways.  Including design and maintenance issues for bio-retention systems, swales, constructed wetlands and porous pavement.

National Urban Water Governance Program

Farrelly and Davis (2009) developed a series of Case Study Demonstration Projects via Monash University’s then National Urban Water Governance Program.  Situated in Melbourne, Perth and South East Queensland they were developed to:

  • Raise the profile of projects involving new water supply and reatment technologies amongst urban water professionals;
  • Share the key lessons and insights gained from these projects.
